Amos Leroy Dixon, Sr., 89, of Westwood, died peacefully with his family at his bedside on Monday, November 6th, following an extended illness. Amos was born May 3, 1928 in Boyd County, Kentucky, a son of the late Everett Elvin and Sarah Elizabeth Crance Dixon. He was retired from Semet Solvay/Ironton Coke, was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of Rose Road Chapel where he worshiped faithfully. Amos was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Betty Marie Whitt Dixon in 2012, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and a son in law, Charles Simpson. Surviving include 2 sons, Amos Dixon, Jr. and wife Paula of Coalgrove, Ohio, Phillip Dixon and wife Regina of Westwood, KY. 2 daughters, Marilyn Simpson of Ashland, KY, and Brenda Dixon of Westwood, KY. 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 9th at 11:00 AM at Preston Family Funeral Home by Brother Leroy Dixon. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation is Wednesday evening from 6 - 9 PM. Condolences may be left for the family at PrestonFamilyFuneralHome.com.
