Betty Compton

Betty L. Compton, 85, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 following a brief illness.
She was born August 29, 1932, in Hulett, KY, a daughter of the late Samuel George and Clara Burton Compton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Helen C. Clark, Esther Judy, Shannon Compton, Jean VanHorn and Sam Compton; and a nephew, Larry Judy.
Betty retired as Vice President from First American Bank. She was involved in many community activities throughout her life, including being a former member of Bellefonte Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf with her friends.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Cindy VanHorn, Steve VanHorn, Charlie VanHorn, Carolyn Mayhew, Clara Woody, Gina Newton, Leasa Compton and Michael Compton; great nieces and nephews, Mollie Woody, Stefanie Reifsnyder, Steven VanHorn and C.D. Mayhew; special friends, Nancy Payne and Shirley Murnahan
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1 p.m Tuesday, at the funeral home.
