Billie Jo Crites (1943-2010)
God's servant Billie Jo Crites was surrounded by family at her home as she left us and went to her new home in heaven on Jan. 6, 2010, after an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 11, 1943, the daughter of the late Preston and Garnett Sparks Gillum and was employed as a driver for Pathways.
She loved to organize family gatherings because she truly loved her family.
She is survived by two children, Chris Crites and Sonya Newman (Gary), both of Ashland; four grandchildren, Chris Crites (Diana) of Eustis, Fla., and Vanessa Crites, Gracie Newman and Noah Newman, all of Ashland; a great-grandchild, Delain Boggs of Ashland; a sister and four brothers, Sharon Jeffers (Calvin E.) of Raceland, Ronald Gillum (Diana) of Columbus, Ohio, Donnie Gillum (Jane) of Flatwoods, Lional Gillum (Jillanna) of South Point, Ohio, and Terry Gillum (Robin) of Versailles, Ky.; nieces and nephews Annette Gillum of Greenville, S.C., Larissa Birch (Steven), Camilee Gillum-Tieman (Jared) and Radawna Gillum, all of Flatwoods, Sharon Jean Jarrell (James) of Flatwoods, Nathan Gillum (Mary) of Ashland, Sara Stidham (Justin) of Greenup, Andrew Gillum of Ashland, Terry Dean Gillum (Shelly), Samuel Gillum (Juleana), Rocky Gillum (Lori) and Brooke Rutoskey (Michael), all of Versailles.
Her love for her family was only surpassed by her love for God and doing his work. She was an active member of Calvary Apostolic Lighthouse in Wurtland, Ky.
Visitation and the funeral will be at Calvary Apostolic Lighthouse in Wurtland. Viewing will be Friday, Jan. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. and the funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor David Morrison. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Community Hospice.
