Carl Pennington

Carl Lester Pennington, 91, of Ashland, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Elliott County, a son of the late Marvin Stanley and Ada Farley Pennington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Sidney Pennington, Clayton Pennington and Roy Pennington.
Carl was a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church and AK Steel Management Club. He was a registered Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Stella Adams Pennington of Ashland; sons, Gary A. Pennington, M.D. and wife Paula of Akron, Ohio and Bruce L. Pennington, M.D. and wife Nancy of Gallipolis, Ohio; one granddaughter, Lindsay M. Pennington; and two stepgrandchildren, Jessica Hamilton and Kevin Hamilton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Keith Katterheinrich officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park with military rites provided by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
