Charles Michael "Big Mike" Rankin, 59, of Russell, Ky., died June 14, 2010, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born May 4, 1951, in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Charles D. and Barbara Burke Rankin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Jane Edwards Rankin.
He was owner/operator of the Russell Car Wash, attended Mead Memorial United Methodist Church in Russell and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from UK.
Surviving are sons William D. "Bill" Darling (Sherry) and Robert "Scott" Darling (Becky), both of Russell; brothers David Rankin of Ashland and Gene (Hester) Rankin of Burnaugh, Ky.; sisters Vida (Jim) Rediford of Winchester, Ky., and Dale (Tim) Walker of Richmond, Ky.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Raymond Payne. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 18 at the funeral home.
