Clarence Campbell

Clarence David Campbell, 89, of Ashland, went home to be with his Lord on April 17, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born April 17, 1924, in Ashland, to Walter and Louella Harris Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Campbell, and a brother, Vernon Campbell.

Clarence was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He served as a leader for the Boy Scouts of America, was a member of the choir at First Church of God for 40 years, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital for 10 years.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Emma Jean Morgan Campbell of Ashland; a son, Jerry (Dreama) Campbell of Wurtland; a daughter, Jo Bugg of Louisiana; a brother, John Campbell of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Ella Mae Miller of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Bryan Campbell and Todd Campbell of Ashland, Cabel Campbell of Wurtland, Josh Bugg of Louisiana and Shelley of Tennessee; great-grandchildren Sarah, Abby, John, Ryan, Ryaleigh and Kylee; a stepson, Marc (Lynne) Craft of Georgetown; a stepdaughter, Sharon Crissey of Lexington; stepgrandchildren Hannah Barton of London, England, Chris Clark of Lexington and Lauren Abeyta and Alden Crissey of Texas.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Richard Suman. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
