Corine Childers, 83, of Ashland, Ky., died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at her residence after several years of illness.
She was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Louisa, Ky., the daughter of the late Clayton and Cora Fraley Thompson.
She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where she was active before her illness and did volunteer work at the Ashland Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ogal Childers Jr.; a son, Cecil Paul Childers; sisters Martha Margaret Thompson, Lula Prater and Lena Robinette; and brothers Otha Thompson, Cecil Thompson, Herschel Thompson, Haskee Thompson and Kay Thompson Jr. (Speck).
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Childers of Ashland; a son, Roger (Carol) Childers of Urbana, Ohio; a sister, Myrel Daniels of Bellview, Ohio; grandchildren Tina Marie (Dana) Lee, Daniel (Ruth) Childers, Debbie Shire, Michael (Mindy) Baldwin and Bruce (Renee) Baldwin; great-grandchildren Leanna Thomas, Lucas Saylor, Madison Saylor, Marlee Bostick, Grace Shire, Abby Baldwin, Ashton Hall and Madison Baldwin; and great-great-grandchildren Jack Thomas and Hannah Saylor.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Nichols. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KYa��41101.
