David Heavner

March 21, 1959 — May 23, 2012

David "Heavyduty" Ernest Heavner, 53, of Flatwoods, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2012 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

David was born March 21, 1959 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Don and Dolores Boykin-Heavner. He was of the Baptist faith and dedicated his life to the Lord on March 17, 2012. Mr. Heavner was a carman at CSX in Raceland and was a member of the American Legion #325 in Flatwoods as well as a lifetime member of the Amvets Post #95 where he served as Commander of the Sons of Amvets.

He leaves behind a devoted and caring family including his wife, Mary Jo Hayes-Heavner of Flatwoods; two sons, David Heavner Jr. of South Point, Ohio and Brian and Tara Smith of Raceland; one daughter, Brandy and Richard "Bam" Vanderpool of Flatwoods; two brothers, Ed Heavner of Detroit and Russell Heavner of Rush; two sisters, Robin Maynard of Worthington and Gail Heavner of Flatwoods as well as four grandchildren, Tristan and Madison Vanderpool and Elijah and Gracie Smith.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, May 26, 2012 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with comforting words delivered by Pastors Jim Nichols and Tom Leach. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call on the family today at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.
