Dorthea Chapman

Dorthea "Dot" Chapman, 92, of Ashland, passed away Saturday evening, June 28, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

She was born May 18, 1922, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Fred and Freda Rupsdorff Pascoe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Willard Chapman and an infant daughter, Sandra Jean Chapman.

She graduated from Oshkosh High School and attended vocational school before going to work at a defense factory in Ripon, Wisconsin.

She married in 1944 and moved back with her parents until her husband Willard returned from overseas. Upon his return they settled in Ashland, KY.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was baptized and confirmed at her church in Wisconsin. Dot worked at the Cinderella Dress Factory, was a member of Old Orchard Homemakers, She was a Kentucky Colonel and Rotary Ann. She worked at C.H. Parsons for 21 years and was a volunteer at King's Daughters Hospital for 12 years.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Ronnie (Donna) Chapman of Louisville, KY; daughters, Sheri (Jim) Dorton of West Palm Beach, FL, and Cindy (Mark) Dillow of Altamonte Springs, FL; five grandchildren, Jay and Betsy Chapman, Ryan and Aaron Barger and Katelyn Bailey; five step grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark A. Kloha officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may call from Noon to 1pm Thursday at the church.
