Edna Bryant

October 19, 1925 — June 13, 2019

Edna Mae Bryant, 93, of Ashland, finished God’s earthly calling and joined Him in The Heavenly Kingdom on Thursday, June 13, 2019, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Bryant was born October 19, 1925 in Boyd County to the late Grady and Sue Waugh. She left home at 15 to marry Chester Paul Wells. Together they had two beloved daughters whom she cherished dearly until her death. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and full-time seamstress at Ashland Craft, better known at the Cinderella Dress… Factory for 33 years before retiring. Many years following the death of Chester, she went on to marry John David Bryant whom also preceded her in death. Edna often shared the earlier years of her Christian walk at Rose Hill Baptist Church where she was known to have formed and taught the first Ladies Sunday School Class in a tent. She went on to work for the Lord at Grace Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian teacher and leader. She was always willing to serve wherever needed.

Edna enjoyed family, traveling, gardening, and quilting. She was very actively involved with the senior citizens until her health limited her participation.
Edna took pride in all her family. She enjoyed the company of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until her death.

Mrs. Bryant was one of a large family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, three brothers, Paul, Carl and James Waugh and a special sister, Mildred Wilcoxon. She will be missed by two living siblings, Betty Delaney and Ernest (Madonna) Waugh. Edna will be dearly missed by her only two daughters, Joyce A. Johnson of Argillite and Paula J. Fannin of Ashland; grandchildren, Cheryl (Mike) Brown, Paul J. Fannin, Scott A. Fannin and Chris (Gabriel) Fannin; great grandchildren, Michael Foraker, Lauren Shea Fannin, Travis Fannin, Drew Fannin and Riley Fannin. Edna will notably join her deceased granddaughter, Terrie Lynn Johnson and both son-in-laws Arnold Johnson and Paul D. Fannin.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center and Community Hospice of Ashland.
