Ella Stapleton

Ella Joy Stapleton, 80, of Ashland, went home to be in the presence of God on Saturday evening, May 25, 2013, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.

Mrs. Stapleton was born May 16, 1933, in Boyd County, one of nine children born to the late William and Maggie Lee Moore Crisp.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Wyatt Mills, two brothers and four sisters.

Ella was a member of Lick Creek Baptist Church in South Point. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her sons, James F. Rucker and M. Lee Rucker, both of Ashland; daughters Janet Ackerson of South Point and Patricia Fillgrove of Ironton; brother Charles Crisp and his wife, Linda, of Coal Grove; sister Lydia Keelin of Rochester, Mich.; grandchildren Dustin Mills, Bart Mills and Joshua Ackerson; and great-grandchildren Baily Taylor and Payton Mills. She also will be missed by her little friend, Nibbles.

The family would like to give a special mention to Steve Tackett of Worthington, Ashland Community Hospice and the outstanding staff of Oakmont Manor for their exceptional care of Ella.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Jeff Canfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation for family and friends will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
