CATLETTSBURG - William Michael Rankin, known by his close friends as "Bill," 62, of Catlettsburg, died Saturday morning, May 31, 2014, at his residence.
Bill was born July 31, 1951, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Joyce Moore and adopted son of the late James Russell and Veatrice Dutch Lykins Rankin.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Rankin, and brothers Roy C., James Russell Jr., George W. and Hubert Raymond Rankin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Preece Rankin; a son, Jim Rankin and wife Angel of Catlettsburg; two grandchildren, Austin and Ashton; and a sister, Barbara McKnight Caudill.
He was retired after 32 years of service in the blast furnace at AK Steel Corp. He enjoyed repairing and working with computers, riding motorcycles and fishing. He especially enjoyed photographing and watching his grandkids play sports.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Myron Stephens. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
