Geroge Harte

December 17, 1928 — February 26, 2019

George G. Harte, 90, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. George was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Corbin, KY, a son of the late James David and Rosa Wilburn Harte. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Martha Frances Copley Harte and a brother Harold Harte.
George was a superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene and served as deacon of the Central Baptist Church in Lehigh Ackers, FL. He was a 32nd degree mason of the Fred M. Gross Lodge #953 F&AM where he received his lifetime pin for 50 years of membership. George retired from AK Steel in the Shipping Department after 42 years of service. He and Martha retired to Florida with many wonderful years before returning to Kentucky after her passing.
George is survived by his sons Robert Harte and wife Carol of Ashland, KY, James David Harte and wife Lianne of Miami, FL, daughter Patricia Vallance and husband J.C. of Lexington, KY, grandchildren Bo, Christin, Hannah, Kelly, Shauna, 4 great grandchildren special friend and caregiver Bobbie Moore and a host of extended family and good friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Frank Hulett. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will from 12:00 Noon till service time Monday at the funeral home.
