Grace McCalvin

Grace Virginia McCalvin, 96, of Ashland passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Greenup County to the late William and Carrie Morman McCalvin.

She graduated from Logan High School in 1936. She worked at G.C. Murphy's in Logan, W.Va. from 1936 to 1944. She was employed as a business account manager and treasurer with Don Hall Chevrolet and retired with 56 years of service. When she began her employment with Don Hall Chevrolet in 1944, it was Guyan Chevrolet, she retired in 2002. When she arrived in Ashland in 1944, she became a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene and was their oldest living member.

She is survived by three brothers, Ralph McCalvin and wife, Helen of Dresden, Tenn., Billy Joe McCalvin of Ashland, and Robert McCalvin and wife, Rose of Pie-Town, N.M.; one sister, Louise McCalvin Feagans of Aiken, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rose Hill Mausoleum Chapel in Ashland with Jim Smedley officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum in Ashland.

Steen Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the mausoleum chapel.
