Harold Conley (1925-2009)
Harold David "HC" Conley, 83, of Westwood, husband of Betty Conley, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
Harold was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Ashland, Ky., to the late Daniel Boone and Ivory Coffee Conley.
Harold was a veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS Walker off of the coast of Pearl Harbor. He was a retired pipefitter with Local #248 and had 65 years of service. He, along with his wife, was co-owner of Harold Conley & Sons Plumbing, Harold Conley Mechanical Contractors, Inc., The Dairy Hut Restaurant and Westwood KVD Hardware, all located in Westwood.
He was a 48 year member of Poage Lodge #325 F&AM, Valley of Covington Scottish Rite Mason, El Hasa Shrine, Charter Member of the Clown Unit, Life Member of Ashland Post VFW Post, Member of Clarence Fields Post #76 American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Joe David Conley; two brothers, Roy Conley and Mickey Conley; and a great-grandson, Connor James Walkup.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Morris Conley of Westwood; a son, Marty Daniel Conley of Westwood; a brother, Marvin Conley of Rush, Ky.; four grandchildren, Marty Conley, Matt Conley, Joe Conley and Danielle Walkup; and seven great-grandchildren, Jake Conley, Marley Conley, Kaylee Conley, Maddie Conley, Karley Conley, Jay David Walkup and Julianna Jo Walkup.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood by the Rev. Fred Miles. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening and one hour before services Monday at the funeral home. Scottish Rite services will be conducted by Ashland-Russell Scottish Rite Club Members at 6:45 p.m. this evening. Masonic services will follow by officers and members of Poage Lodge #325. Military graveside services will be conducted by Kenova American Legion.
