Harry Chandler

Gartrell Chandler (1918-2010)
Harry Gartrell Chandler, 91, husband of Kathleen Chandler, of Grayson, formerly of Ashland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. He was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Ashland to the late Glen Chandler and the late Nellie Horn Chandler Brewer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as self employed builder/construction worker. He was a charter member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
He also was preceded in death by two half sisters, Mildred Salyers and Margaret Porter.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Adams Chandler of Grayson; three half brothers, Fred Brewer of Ashland, Robert Brewer of Marion, Ohio, and Charles Brewer of Catlettsburg; two half sisters, Helen Yoder of Ashland and Eileen Comer of Coal Grove; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Rose Hill Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles Stewart and Ronnie Mayes. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood.
