Helen Jean Cooksey of Ashland passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 6, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was 60.
She was born March 22, 1952, in Louisa, a daughter of the late Malcolm Burgess and Frances Curtis Arrington. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Cooksey, in 2008.
Helen was a graduate of the King's Daughters School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in the endoscopy department at King's Daughters Medical Center.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Tyler Cooksey of Ashland; a brother, David Arrington of Louisa; and a host of loving friends she worked with in the endoscopy department and whom she considered to be her extended family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
In keeping with Helen's love of animals, contributions may be sent to the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund, c/o Dave Gillum, 131 New Hampshire Drive, Ashland, KY 41101.
