Jack Anderson

Jack Wallace Dickison, 86, of Ashland, passed away, Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Ashland, a son of the late Harry and Nancy Wheeler Dickison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Dr. Harry Leo Dickison, Carl Dickison and Charles "Chuck" Dickison and a sister, Marjorie Jones.

Jack was a member of Ashland First Church of the Nazarene. He made three mission trips, two to Ecuador and one to Arizona. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid reader and sportsman who loved working in his flowers. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Yvonnia "Jackie" Hignite Dickison of Ashland; sons Richard "Dick" Dickison of Lake Wales, Fla., and Mike Dickison and his wife, Lisa, of Ashland; a brother, Virgil Dickison and his wife, Nelle, of Ashland; grandchildren Beth Dickison Richards and her husband, Greg, of Lake Wales and Travis Dickison and Evan Dickison of Ashland; a great-grandchild, Arlie Ethan Richards; a special niece, Susie Hensley and her husband, Terry, of Flatwoods; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Steve Ruby. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the funeral home.
