James Smith

James G. "Bo" Smith, 67, of Russell, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at his home.

Bo was born April 23, 1951, in Russell, the son of the late James A. and Maxine Franklin Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William F. "Bill" Smith.

He was a retired CSX Conductor and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Flatwoods.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara; one son, James A. "Bo" Smith of Ashland; two daughters, Michelle Stemmer Fugett (David Gifford) of Grayson and Kristen (Moe) Arnett of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Stewart of Rush, Jerry (Megan) Traylor of Erlanger, Katie Smith of Florida, Sarah Arnett of Frankfort, Lauren Smith of New Jersey, Trey Arnett of Frankfort and Brooklyn Smith of New Jersey; three great-grandchildren, Jakob and McKinlee Stewart and Jackson Traylor; a brother-in-law, Don (Lorraine) Sargent; two sisters-in-law, Freda (Ron) Schneider and Sharon (Greg) Diamond, all of Ashland; and his faithful furry companion, Sissy.

Bo loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his time on the golf course.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Carman Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Boggs officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 2907 Greenbo Blvd, Flatwoods, KY 41139.
