James Walker

James R. Walker, 83, of Ashland, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019, at his residence.
He was born December 3, 1935, in Kenova, W.Va., a son of the late Howard and Hazel Young Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolla Joy Ransom Walker; and a sister, Nancy Hatten.
He retired from Armco Steel after many years of service and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Gaye Walker Nunley of Ashland; two grandchildren; Caleb Robert Nunley and Fiancé, Bryttany Barker, and Kristina Joy Nunley; and a host of loving extended family members and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Rev. Frank Hulett officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY, 41101; or to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
