Joan Ann Owens Cole, 84, of Ashland, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Community Hospice Care Center.
Joan was born December 13, 1934, in Boyd County, Kentucky, one of five daughters of the late William and Mary Emily Nelson Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Cole; and two sisters, Dolores Grubb and Betty Felty.
She was a graduate of Boyd County High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She was retired from Armco Inc. as a registered nurse. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Joan is survived by two sisters, Thelma Owens of Ashland, and Carol Opell of Catlettsburg. Those also left to cherish her memory include several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews, who all loved their “Aunt Joan”.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Kevin Meenach and Brian Bussey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101
