John Chinn 1921-2013
ASHLAND - John Chinn, 91, of Ashland, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.
He was born June 18, 1921, in Ashland, the son of the late Charles and Lutie Keeney Chinn.
He was retired from Armco Steel, where he was a foreman of the Amanda blast furnace. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a World War II Army veteran, having attained the rank of Sergeant, a recipient of the Purple Heart, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge 350, past president and director of the Armco Management Club, member of the Ponderosa Golf Club now Sandy Creek. He was a member of the Ashland Bowling Hall of Fame and a member of the Ben Williamson softball team.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Lambert; four sisters; and six brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Muncy Chinn; one daughter, Sharon Lambert and husband Brad of Raceland; one son, David Chinn and wife Jan of Raceland; three grandchildren, Abigail Lambert, Melissa (Brandon) Scott and Kevin (Whitney) Chinn; and one great-grandchild, Kaleb Scott.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 3, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland, by the Rev. John Street. Entombment followed in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
