Kermit Deal

Kermit Deal - 1910-2008
Kermit Lee Deal, born Nov. 9, 1910, in Olive Hill, to Tracy and Erie Gertrude Deal, went to be with the Lord at 10:30 p.m. at Atrium Hospital in Middletown, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, in 1986, his parents and his sisters, Maxine Bibion, Georgie Click, Louise Gillispie.
Survivors include his sons, Kermit Woodward "Woody" Deal and Sharon of Cape Coral, Fla., David Tracy Deal and Judith, of Franklin; a sister, Janet Salley and Curtis of Rush; grandchildren, Carl Deal and Janet, Ginger Arnold and Greg, David Robert and Bobby Deal, Tracy Ross and Chris, and Leann Buttram and William; and great-grandchildren, Chad, Sarah, Katlyn and Grant Deal, Brandy and Jason "Heather" Walker and Jordan and Kobe Ross.
Mr. Deal moved from Olive Hill to Ashland in 1921. He started to work at Armco Steel in 1927, in the masonry department, later transferring to the processing department following to the scheduling department. Mr. Deal left Armco in 1942 to work for Clayton-Lambert Company in Ashland until 1945, when he opened a lumber company in Wurtland. In 1949, Mr. Deal became a general contractor in Ashland and remained in that business until 1959, when he became owner and operator of Cherokee Fishing Lake in Argillite. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland. In 1971, he sold Cherokee Fishing Lake and Devoted his time to farming and some light construction work and refinishing and restoring antique furniture until 1990, when he moved to Monroe, Ohio. In Monroe, he was still active in repairing, restoring and selling antique tools and furniture until 2003.
Kermit will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland. Visitation will be at the Mausoleum at Rose Hill Burial Park on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 2 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation at 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44195.
