Linda Conley Towler, 65, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday July 17, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of James and Ruby Rye. She was preceded in death by her father, James Rye, and her mother, Ruby Rye; her sister, Verna Rye Poore; and her brother, James Rye of Ashland.
She has a surviving brother, Arnold (Linda) Rye of Ashland.
Linda was the wife of Steve Towler of Ashland. Linda had three children, Robin Conley Wilson (David), Mandy Conley Lynch (Scott) and Travis Conley (Amanda), all of Somerset. Linda had five grandchildren whom she adored, all of which live in Somerset, Tyler Wilson, Sydney Wilson and Rachyl Wilson (children of David and Robin Wilson) and Raegan Conley and Ethan Conley (children of Travis and Amanda Conley). Linda had two stepdaughters, who both live in California, Lisa Towler Zimmerman (Jim) and Lori Towler. She had two stepgrandchildren, Dylan Zimmerman and Abigale Zimmerman, both of West Lake Village, Calif.
Linda was an avid golfer and member of Bellefonte Country Club. She was a member of Old Orchard Christian Church and attended First Baptist Church of Ashland. In her youth, Linda lived close to Ashland Southside swimming pool, was an avid swimmer and diver and oftentimes did specialized diving performances. Second to her love of her five grandchildren, Linda had a compassionate and loving heart toward all animals. She was a founder of the Somerset Humane Society. During her life, she cared for numerous cats and dogs, often fostering homeless animals. Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation for Linda will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home on Carter Avenue in Ashland.
The funeral service will be immediately following visitation at 3 p.m. at the funeral home by the Rev. Harold Moore, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ashland. The eulogy will be given by her son-in-law, Dr. David Wilson. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Linda may be sent to the United Way of Northeast Kentucky, P.O. Box 2285, Ashland KY 41105-2285.
