Manus L. Robinette - 1914-2008
Manus L. Robinette, 93, of Ashland, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 in King's Daughters Medical Center.
He was born April 13, 1914, in Boyd County, Ky., the son of the late Martin L. Sr. and Elizabeth Stewart Robinette.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Amanda Robinette and Ellen Robinette; and three brothers, Thomas E. Robinette, James Elmer Robinette and Charles H. Robinette.
He and his wife were the former owners and operators of the Robinette Grocery at 3101 Central Ave. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Wo0rld War II, serving with the 14th Cavalry. He was a member of American Legion Post 76 and a Kentucky colonel.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Belva Miller Robinette; a brother, Martin Robinette of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Charles E. Stewart. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
