Marie McDowell

Marie L. Griffith McDowell, 82, of Boyd County, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, July 2, 2018, in Community Hospice Care Center with her family by her side.
Marie was born August 21, 1935, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late Walter Mason and Martha Kirk Griffith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Clarence Griffith of Boyd County; one sister, Iva Bowling of Michigan; and a great-grandson, James O'Ryan Stephens.
Marie was a member of the Wurtland Church of God. She loved to go rummaging with her daughter, reading and talking on the phone.
She was a loving mother and nana. She loved spending time with her family and reading her Bible.
Survivors include four sons, Ronnie McDowell and wife Gerri, Roger McDowell (Lisa), Ricky McDowell and wife Linda and Randy McDowell and wife Sandy; her one and only daughter, Jackie Rice and her husband Mark; and a sister, Clotene Evans all of Boyd County; eight grandchildren, Leah Boggs, Cindy Runyon, Ronnie McDowell Jr, Michelle Stiles, Jason McDowell, Brandy Rice, Cody Rice and Briahr Mason McDowell; several great-grandchildren and godchildren of Rick McDowell.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Marie's grandsons, Briahr Mason and Jamison will serve as honorary pallbearers and will lead her to her final resting place.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Preston Family Funeral Home by Dave Price. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. and an hour before services Saturday.
