Marvin Kirk Jr., 72, of Ironville died suddenly Thursday afternoon, May 4, 2012.
Marvin was born on Aug. 27, 1939, in Boyd County. He was the son of the late Marvin and Minnie Potter Kirk. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Skyline Christian Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Selvage Kirk, who died in 2010; and two sons, Robert Mitchell Kirk, in 1968, and Jerry Lee Kirk, in 1974. He was also preceded in death by several siblings.
Survivors include three brothers, David Kirk and wife, Amelia, of Ashland, Ernie Kirk and wife, Debbie, of Ashland, and Delbert Kirk and wife, Diane, of Greenup County; and a sister, Garnet Eskew and husband, Frank, of Westwood.
A graveside service will be at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland.
