Paul R. Daniels, 70, husband of Leslie McGuire Daniels of Greenup, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland following an extended illness.

Paul was born Feb. 17, 1942, in Stirrat, W.Va., to the late Arvis and Monna Darlene Mayhew Daniels.

He was retired as a computer programmer for AK Steel. Paul was very active in many fraternal organizations, receiving numerous honors. He was a member of Riverside Chapter Order of DeMolay; a chapter dad for 17 years for River Cities Chapter Order of DeMolay, formerly Owen R. Meadors Chapter; and an emeritus member of International Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay, where he achieved several honors, including 1974 Advisor of the Year, chevalier, DeMolay Cross of Honor and Active DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was a member and past master of Fred M. Gross Lodge 953, F&AM a board member of the Kentucky DeMolay Foundation; former chairman of the Committee on Youth Activities; a former member of the Committee on Lodges Under Dispensation; a past high priest of Apperson Chapter 81, RAM; past illustrious master of Everette Council 65, R&SM a past eminent commander of Ashland Commandery 28, KT; a charter member of Highland York Rite College 134; a grand representative to the New York Grand Commandery; Knight York Cross of Honour; a life member and Knight Mason, Kentucky Council 71 Grand Council of Knight Masons USA; a life member, past master of kadosh and 33rd degree Mason of Indra Consistory, Valley of Covington Scottish Rite Bodies; past potentate of El Hasa Shrine; former Board of Governors member of Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati; past president of the South Atlantic Shrine Association Ritualistic Cast and past SASA commander; member of El Hasa Legions of Honor; charter member El Mexa Teocalli 98, Order of Quetzalcoatl; Order of Knights, Eagles & Tigers, No. 1 position; past Charter Camaxtli; past Chief Camaxtli of Southeastern Quetzalcoatl Association; member of the Royal Order of Scotland; past Grand Cross of Color, International Order of Rainbow Girls; past Worthy Patron Westwood Chapter 569, Order of Eastern Star; past Worthy Grand Patron, Grand Chapter of Kentucky, OES; past Watchman of Shepherds, Ashland Shrine 7, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; member of Ashland Elks Lodge 350, BPOE of Ashland; and a life member of American Legion Post 93 in Kenova, W.Va.

Survivors include his loving wife, Leslie Ann McGuire Daniels; two daughters, Robin Staten of Jacksonville, Fla., and Paula Daniels Music and her husband, Greg, of Louisville; a brother, Larry Daniels of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Sharon Trimble of Ohio; three grandchildren; and a host of extended friends and family.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at El Hasa Shrine by Michael Martin, Worthy Grand Patron, Grand Chapter of Kentucky Order of Eastern Star. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland. Military services will be by Kenova American Legion Post 93.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at El Hasa Shrine. An Eastern Star service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday by 2010-11 Harrison/Malone Grand Family. A Scottish Rite service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday by Covington Scottish Rite Bodies. A Masonic service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday by officers and members of Fred M. Gross Lodge 953, F&AM.

Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood is in charge of arrangements.
