Paul McConnell

Paul Preston McConnell, 81, of Ashland, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. He was born April 6, 1937 in Ashland, the son of the late Lon and Zelda Loar McConnell. He was retired from the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he served as Trustee and drove the church van and was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Miller. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary K. Taylor McConnell; one daughter, Beth (Mitch) Qualls of Ashland; one son, Paul Preston (Clorissa) McConnell II of Huntington; one sister, Doris (Bill) Stone of Westwood; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Alana) Qualls, Adam Qualls, Emily (Brandon) Barney, Cody McConnell, Samuel McConnell, Zachary McConnell, Alyssa McConnell and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Centenary United Methodist Church by Rev. David Herndon. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, with military services, conducted by the Kenova American Legion Post 93. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 2901 Winchester Ave. Ashland, KY 41101.
