Paul J Profit I, 74 of Ashland, joined his sweetheart Freda Profit in heaven on June 29, 2018 at Community Hospice Center . A true love story these two shared until the end where they will spend eternity together to never be separated by illness again.
He was born March 8, 1944 in Kingston, OH, the son of the late Kie Profit and Mary Short Profit. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 54 years Freda Ann Claytor Profit; one brother Ceburn Profit, one sister Evelyn Abrams and his beloved four legged best friend Amos.
He was a former employee for the City of Ashland where he started his career working in the sanitation department on August 29, 1966 at the hourly wage of $1.65. He later worked his way up to become Superintendent of Street and Traffic where he retired on May 31, 2011. He was a preacher and pastor of Fairview Holiness Mission the same church where he first started preaching long before his children were born. When his children were young you could find him coaching little league baseball for the Cubs, Elks Babe Ruth, 13 year old all stars, redskins and Cardinals in JFL football, and boys and girls basketball at Crabbe Elementary as well as Hatcher Elementary. He enjoyed coaching multiple sports and mentoring those he coached. He was an avid movie collector and collected for many years. He was a die hard UK Wildcats fan never missing a game on T.V.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula "Sassy" Profit of Ashland; two sons, Aaron Profit and P.J. (Sarah) Profit of Ashland, one brother in-law Eugene (Alice) Claytor of Chillicothe, OH; and five grandchildren, Devin Profit, Aiden Adkins, Ridley Profit, Romy Profit, Laylen Farley; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday July 2, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home by his nephew Tim Salyers. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
