Raymond L. Carter (1918-2010)
Raymond L. Carter, 91, of Ashland, Ky., died March 18, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born April 5, 1918, in Paris, Ky., a son of the late Clifford and Hester Cassity Carter.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bernice Greene Carter, in 1985 and his second wife, Eloise Salyer Carter, in 2006; a brother, Warren Carter; and a sister, Viva Franz.
He was former manager of A&P Supermarket in Logan and Mullens, W.Va., where he was employed for 481/2 years. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and a World War II Army Air Force veteran.
Surviving are daughters Nancy A. Bane and husband Dan of Proctorville, Ohio, Mary J. Samson and husband John of Logan, W.Va., and Beth A. McGovern and husband Guy of Ashland; brothers Harold Carter of Winchester, Ky., and Harmon Carter of Morehead, Ky.; a sister, Julia Mitchell of Ashland; grandchildren Lee Anna Collins and husband Craig of Proctorville, Stephen Carter Wilkes and wife Marie of Lyndhurst, Ohio, Mark Justin Samson of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Amanda Jo Barker and husband Shannon of Ashland; great-grandchildren Alaina Hope Collins, Carter Matthew Collins, Tyler Matthew Barker, Ryan Joseph Barker and Nathan Stephen Wilkes; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Ike Nicholson. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday at the mausoleum chapel.
