Rebecca Ann Mynhier McCoy, 68, of Ashland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 8, 2019 in King’s Daughters Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born October 15, 1950, in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late Walter Clay Mynhier, Sr. and Margaret Kinzer Mynhier.
Becky was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was a devout Christian. She was a 1968 graduate of Paul Blazer High School and a 1972 graduate of Marshall University. She touched many lives during her 30 years of teaching elementary education in the Ashland School System. Throughout her career she taught at Wylie Elementary, Hatcher Elementary and Oakview Elementary. She had a great love for every child who entered her classroom. In addition to her church she was a member of Kentucky Education Assoc. and Kentucky Retired Teachers Assoc.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and best friend, Kristen McCoy and her fiancé, Tom Epperly of Ashland; her grandsons and greatest loves, Ryan Leighty and Mason Shively; brothers, James Mynhier and wife, Kathleen of Louisville, and Walter Mynhier of Ashland; niece, Mary Frances Mynhier of Louisville; Nephew, John Mynhier of Louisville; special cousin, David Bradley of Salt Lick, KY; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with words of comfort provided by Tom Epperly. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from Noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
