Rita Carolyn Slone, 80, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born May 26, 1930, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harold Matthew & Georgia Mae Knox Tucker.
She was a former employee of Horwinn's Dress Shop, Montague Insurance, the Boyd County Clerk's Office, Kentucky Power Co., Billick's Jewelry and Rita's Riginals Arts & Crafts and was a devoted homemaker.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Homemakers Club and a 1948 graduate of Ashland Senior High School.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Billy Joe Slone of Ashland; a son, Jeffrey Dale Slone and his wife, Patti, of Lexington, Ky.; nieces Lynn Bluebaum of Ashland and Tina Jones of Versailles; two sisters, Jo Ann Bush and husband Robert of Ashland and Rebecca Sue Arrington and husband Hager of Ashland; and two grandchildren, Tucker Edward Slone and Matthew Paul Slone.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Chaplain James Smedley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KYa��41101.
