Royce Porter

Royce Edward Porter, 78, of Summit, passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 20, 2013, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland.

He was born May 18, 1934, in Elliott County, a son of the late Algie and Lola Robinson Porter. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Porter.

Royce was a member of Summit Church of the Nazarene. He retired from the Summit-Ironville Fire Department where he had served as a board member. He was a former member of the Ashland Gun Club.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Sue Bounk Porter of Summit; sons Ronnie (Marie) Porter of Oldtown, Alan (Suzanne) Porter of Summit and Jerry (Sharon) Porter of Middletown, Ohio; a daughter, Diana (George) Bullion of Summit; a brother, Bobby (Patricia) Porter of Summit; a sister, Pauline (Ken) Flaming of Ashland; 17 grandchildren, Ricky (Mary) Porter, Chris (Tracy) Porter, Aaron Porter, Heath Porter, Luke Porter, Katelynd Porter, Kyndra Porter, Dawn (Steve) Taylor, Alison Jones, Brent (Stacy) Bullion, Jarett Bullion, Holly McIntosh, Jill McIntosh, Jared McIntosh, Zach McIntosh, Beverly (Arlie) Baldridge and Gregory Picklesimer; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Tim Daniels. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the funeral home.
