Thomas Jefferson Mc-Kain, 91, of Wilmore, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1920, in Greenville, Texas, to the late Albert S. and Angus Gilcrest McKain.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert G. McKain, and his mother-in-law, Ella Dee Peyton.
Tom was a member of Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church in Nicholasville. He was the founder and director of the Hillcrest-Bruce United Methodist Mission Dental Clinic in Ashland for 20 years. Formerly a member of First United Methodist Church in Ashland, he was very active on various boards and served as Mission Commission emeritus. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University and a chemical engineer who retired from the Ashland Oil Chemical Division. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jimmie Peyton McKain of Wilmore.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by the Rev. John Street. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Hillcrest-Bruce Mission Dental Clinic, 1819 Eloise St., Ashland, KY 41101.
