Vertrice "Pete" Roberts (1922-2010)
Vertrice "Pete" Roberts, 87, of Ashland, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Center. She was born July 26, 1922, in Bradley, Ky., to the late Elice Penix and Georgia Patrick Swearngin. She was a member of the Eastern Star White Shrine of Jerusalem and attended Ashland First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Roberts; a son, W. Douglas Roberts; a daughter, Rebecca Roberts Clemens; and step father, William Clyde Swearngin.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mary Roberts of Ashland; three grandchildren, Kerrie Blevins of Ashland, Michael Roberts of Lexington and Sunny (Karl) West of Corpus Christy, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Cody Blevins, Harlea Blevins, both of Ashland, and Tripp West of Corpus Christy.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Harold Moore. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
