Virginia Moyer

September 18, 1924 — June 28, 2014

Virginia Ruth Stewart Moyer, formerly of Ashland, passed away June 28, 2014, in the Hospice Care Center in Naples, Fla.

She was born in Catlettsburg to the late Oscar L. and Elsie Howerton Stewart.


She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert A. Moyer Sr., in 1999 and siblings Edytha Chapman, Everett Stewart, Marcus Stewart, James O. Stewart and Dollie Jean Perry.

Virginia was a graduate of Catlettsburg High School and was an office manager for 35 years at Commercial Credit in Ashland. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church while in Ashland, transferring membership to a church in Naples when she moved. She taught piano lessons to students from Ashland and Ironton, Ohio.

She is survived by her son, Robert A. Moyer Jr. of Naples; grandchildren Robert Moyer III of Naples and Gwen Ward of Columbus, Ind.; great-grandchildren Robert Moyer IV "Bo" (Stacha) Moyer of Naples and Christopher Dove of Columbus; and siblings Laveta Alley, John (Mary) Stewart and Jerrell Stewart.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the funeral home.
