Vivian Burke - 1920 - 2009
Vivian Olive Cole Burke, 89, formerly of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday Oct. 17, 2009, in Richmond, where she was residing with her granddaughter, Lara (George) Dulaney, and the apples of her eyes, Mason and Dawson.
Mrs. Burke was born March 24, 1920, in Mount Vernon, Mo., a daughter of the late George and Martha Ella Stogsdill Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Laburn Burke; two brothers, Jack Cole and Milford Cole; and two sisters, Reva Maynard and Wilma Phillips.
She was an Avon representative, known as "The Avon Lady," for 53 years.
Surviving are her sons, Larry (Mary Lou) Burke of David, Ky., and David Dean (Pat) Burke of Georgetown, Ky.; a daughter, Linda "Bubbles" (John Kanouse) Kirtley of Ashland; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Burke will be at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 22, 2009, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Philip Duncan. Committal will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Ky.
