Walton Hodge (1927-2009)
Walton Hodge, 82, of Raceland, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va., with the Rev. James Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Rev. Basil and Caroline Workman Hodge. He retired from Owens Illinois, where he had worked in the shipping department. Walton was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Hodge Freewill Baptist Church in Wayne County, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, Arnetta Newsome Hodge; two daughters and a son-in-law, Caroline and Tim Woods of Flatwoods, Ky., and Rhonda Lynn Hodge of Wayne, W.Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Anne Hodge of Westwood, Ky., and Ronnie Lee and Pat Hodge of Kenova; a sister and brother-in-law, Edith and George Haye of Barboursville, W.Va.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harmon Hodge of Proctorville, Ohio, and Basil and Ruth Hodge Jr. of Williamsburg, Ky.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m today, Dec. 3, 2009, at the funeral home at 1822 Chestnut St. in Kenova.
