William LeMaster

WESTWOOD - William Roger LeMaster, 64, of Westwood, passed away peacefully in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland on Monday, June 23, 2014.

Roger was born May 18, 1950, in Ashland, a son of the late Lonnie and Pauline Moore LeMaster.

He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jack W. Kelley Sr., and brothers-in-law Charles Edward Turner and Jack W. Kelley Jr.

Roger married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sandra (Kelley), in 1970. They enjoyed each other and raising their family in Westwood for more than 43 years. Roger was a 1968 graduate of Fairview High School, received his degree from Ashland Community College and was a licensed electrician. Roger was a member of USWA Local 1865, past chairman of Sanitation District 4 and a member of BPO Elks Lodge 350 of Ashland. He was a Kentucky colonel, a member of the United Professional Horsemen's Association and a commissioner of the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra "Sandy" Kelley LeMaster; two daughters, Alison "Ali" (Todd) Walker of Georgetown and Amy (J. Ryan) Conley of Westwood; two grandsons, Jordan Kirk and Tyler Walker; two sisters, Janet Gail Turner of Catlettsburg and Theresa (Chet) Branham of Leesburg, Va.; his mother-in-law, Midge (Cy) Kelley Reynolds; two sisters-in-law, Susan (Richard) Gross of Michigan and Violet Kelley; a brother-in-law, Stephen "Steve" Kelley of Ashland; several special nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

Roger loved people and his community. He was well-known in the Westwood community for his friendly smile and unwavering generosity to others. After retiring from AK Steel as a crane operator, Roger managed numerous real-estate properties and was always willing to extend a helping hand to others in need. Roger often spoke of his daily encounters with his new friends, which usually involved helping them in some way. He had been a coach in Westwood for more than 32 years, influencing young minds in sportsmanship and competition. As a result of his accomplishments and dedicatio
